MeCure Industries, a pharmaceuticals company in Nigeria, has revealed it has secured approval from the National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to launch production of the first locally manufactured alternative Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid tablets, Amoxyclav 625mg. This was made known in a recent statement.“MeCure Industries completed its Beta-lactam plant (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid also known as Amoxyclav) and, in the first quarter of 2024, secured approval from NAFDAC to launch production of Amoxyclav 625mg tablets (the first locally manufactured alternative antibiotic tablets following the departure of major manufacturers of similar variants),” the statement said.

Tinubu Transmits Anti-Doping Bill to Senate

President Bola Tinubu has urged the Senate to review and approve a bill aimed at prohibiting athletes from using substances that enhance their performance. Tinubu’s request was conveyed in a letter read on Thursday on the floor of the upper legislative chamber by the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau. The bill titled “National Anti-Doping Bill 2024”, if passed, will regulate substances that can be consumed by athletes during sporting events.
