Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have on Friday attacked Kwapre village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing five people and abducting unspecified number of women. The insurgents shot sporadically, injuring some residents while houses and property belonging to residents were destroyed. According to Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakubu, member representing Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, the insurgents maimed some community dwellers, destroyed their homes and abducted some others.

“This latest attack on the innocent and peace- loving people of Kwapre is another senseless and cruel act of cowardice on a community that is renowned for peace, industry and serenity.”

Kwapre is a village in the Northern axis of Adamawa state, sharing boundaries with Borno State near Sambisa forest.

Daily Post reports that a source named Innocent Geoffrey said the community assumed the attackers were herders carrying out vengeance but later displayed Boko Haram tendencies of abducting women.

"Right now, there is no single person in Kwapre; everybody has fled the community," Geoffrey said.
