The Governors of 12 States in the Southern region of Nigeria have resolved to ban open grazing of cattle in their respective States. The resolution was after the meeting of Southern Governors on Tuesday in Asaba, Delta State, noting that open grazing of cattle has caused conflicts between migrant herders and host communities resulting in loss of lives and properties.

Some of the herders have been accused of other crimes including armed robbery and kidnapping.
