The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has disclosed that between 2015 till date, it has recovered N26 billion from public officials and companies.
Mr. Bolaji Owasanoye, the Chairman of the Commission made the disclosure while granting an interview to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.
Owasanoye said the commission in its duties has recovered both liquid and hard assets from public officials, civil servants noting that recently, monies and about 32 houses were traced to a civil servant.
He explained that most public officers who have stolen public funds usually act in collaboration with owners of companies. They divert the monies by awarding contracts to their companies or by asserting that the monies are accrued to Duty Transport Allowance (DTA).
Speaking on fraud allegations against Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), the Chairman said the commission has partnered with PTAD to weed out scammers within the directorate.
