Nigerians may be in for another round of fuel scarcity following the decision of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSON) to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike. Pengassan in a letter released yesterday title "Re: Breach in agreement on IPPIS Implementation and redundancy in baker hughes" and signed by Comrade Lumumba Ighotemu Okugbawa, General Secretary of the association directed its members to withdraw their services with effect from 12mid night on Sunday November, 8, 2020. The decision according to the association followed expiration of the seven days ultimatum given to the government.
In the letter, all branch chairmen, branch members were instructed to ensure full compliance while they await further directive. Also all zonal offices were asked to monitor level of compliance and report same to the National Secretariat.
The Association had earlier announced its plans to shut down oil and gas facilities and distribution of petroleum products across Nigeria over the breach of agreement on the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System to their members by the Federal Government.
Also, the association had vowed to withdraw its services over government’s failure to pay arrears of 22 months owed their members working with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
The association had issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to urgently address the situation among others.
