The Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) said it has seized high profile Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) valued at about N1.374bn in a single swoop in Lagos. The Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali (rtd) who made the disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja while conducting newsmen around the seized vehicles assured that the Service will redouble efforts in the area of securing the nation's border as well as increase the nation's revenue drive to assist the government in its development agenda.


He listed some of the seized cars to include eight units of brand new 2017 model of Lexus LX570, 17 units of Toyota Hilux ranging from 2010 to 2019 models and 12 units of 2017 model of Toyota Land Cruiser.


The CG further disclosed that apart from the cars, his men seized bags of smuggled parboiled rice with a duty paid value of N149m.


He warned smugglers to desist from their activities which he described as economic sabotage, warning that his men have been directed to use their weapons in self defense to avoid being killed
