The Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson on Tuesday said the Niger Delta has contributed over N96 trillion to the nation's economy. The Governor stated this when he received the report of the Committee on Restructuring and other matters affecting the Ijaw nation in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital. He called on the Federal Government to urgently kick-start the move toward restructuring the country before the 2019 general elections.

Mozambique won’t make payments for at least five more years on about $2 billion of loans that led to a default last year, according to the International Monetary Fund.

The government has amassed $710 million of arrears on the debt, most of which it previously hid from the Washington-based lender, according to an Article IV report and an associated Debt Sustainability Analysis to be submitted to the fund’s board March 2. The documents were shown to Bloomberg by two people who declined to be identified because they’ve not been published yet.

Reuter’s news agency reports that IMF Resident Representative Ari Aisen declined to comment. Finance Ministry spokesman Rogerio Nkomo acknowledged receipt of an email sent by Bloomberg, but didn’t immediately provide comment.

The leadership of the Benue State Livestock Guards has reacted to report that one of its members was arrested in Ukum Local Government Area by ‘Exercise Cat Race’ for cattle rustling. The state Commandant of the Guard Force, Alhaji Aliyu Tershaku who spoke to newsmen said the Benue State Government established the Livestock Guards but does not arm its members. He explained that the role of the group was merely to help conventional security agencies in the implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017.

The Managing Director, Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Alhaji Kabir Adamu, says the bank has disbursed N262 billion to 140,000 farmers through Anchor Borrower Scheme in three years.

Adamu, who disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Sokoto, said the disbursement was to support farmers and boost agriculture in the country.

According to him, the bank was disbursing the loans directly to farmers in the past but due to some hitches had to introduce indirect lending through input suppliers to ensure that genuine farmers access the facilities.

NOI polls, a research and survey firm says 86 per cent of Nigerians buy petrol at an average of N199 per litre.

The firm revealed this in its latest report released in Abuja, on Tuesday adding that the amount was far above the N145 per litre price approved by the Federal government.

The Department for International Development (DFID) has trained about 23,758 women in health education and nutrition in Zamfara state under its Child Development Grant Programme.

The Child Development Grant programme supports pregnant women and nursing mothers with N4,000 monthly in Zamfara and Jigawa states.

NOI Polls, a research firm revealed this in its latest report released in Abuja on Tuesday and urged the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to enforce the petroleum price monitoring mechanism.

The Naira on Monday remained stable as it traded at N362 to the dollar at the parallel market, same amount it was sold last Friday. The Naira also closed against the euro at N481 at same market in Lagos. The Bureau De Change (BDCs) window, the Naira also recorded same stability.
