The Federal Government has signed an agreement with investors to generate $30 billion annually on the Made in Nigeria for Export (MINE) project. The agreement which was Presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The signing was carried out by the President of Africa Export and Import Bank (AFREXIM), Prof. Benedict Oramah, Managing Director of the Bank of Industry (BoI), Mr. Kayode Pitan and the Managing Director of Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Mr. Uche Orji.
According to Buhari, MINE was established to place Nigeria as the manufacturing center of Sub-Saharan Africa and the major exporter of MINE products to Africa and subsequently, the world.
He added that the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) which delegated the Enyimba Economic City in Abia State, Lekki Model Industrial Park in Lagos State and Funtua Cotton Cluster in Katsina State as the three take-off projects of MINE.
The President further said that the SEZ is aimed to enhance Nigeria’s GDP and also creating about 1.5 million new jobs by 2025.
