The registration for the issuance of new 10-year e-passports to Nigerians has begun. This was made known by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) through its public relations officer, James Sunday, on Monday when he took newsmen round the data capture center in Abuja.

According to the NIS, the new passport will include details of enrollees as captured by the National Identity Management Commission.

Recall that, the new e-passport was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 16. Meanwhile, the 64-page 10-year standard passport costs N70,000 and some of its benefits include 10-year validity, self-tracking application and express centers for urgent application, Sunday said.

The Immigration Service earlier postponed the issuance of the new 10-year enhanced e-passport till April 29 to enable it perfect the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN) into the new passport.
