The Nigerian Government has suspended all operations of Turkish Airlines in Nigeria due to the ill-treating of its Nigerian passengers.
Abdullahi Sidi, the Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) gave the suspension letter, saying if the Airline Company does not mend their ways of treating Nigerians anyhow. The suspension may last longer.
Sidi expressed his sadness over the reoccurrence of cases where the airline abandoned passenger’s en-route into Nigeria after they have checked in their luggage’s.
Contained in the statement, the NCAA DG said, “This issue had made passengers carry out several mob actions at our airport and it was a great threat to our airport facilities,”
He revealed the suspension may continue until the airline company is ready to operate the airline which will carry all their passengers and their luggage’s at one swoop.
He further stated that in recent times, the airline moved into the country without the luggage of about 85 percent of its passengers on board, saying after holding several meetings with the company, it did not yield any result.
Therefore, he concluded, “The NCAA is therefore left with no option than to direct Turkish Airlines to suspend its operations into Nigeria until such a time when the airline is ready to operate with the right size of aircraft that can transport all passengers with their baggage at the same time.”
