The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said there would be few changes as arrangements are in place on passenger facilitation for the resumption of flights in the country. The General Manager Corporate Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu made this known during the aviation webinar for Women in Aviation (WIA) Nigeria titled, 'Aviation: The New Norm in the post COVID'.

She said on resumption of airport activities in the country, passengers should expect long hours of checks and re-checks on arrival and departure from the airport. Yakubu advised passengers to leave their homes earlier than usual to enable them to go through all checks on time before and after going into the terminal.

"We are going to expect flight delays; flights will experience delays from checks and re-checks. If you are travelling, I will expect a potential traveler to leave home hours before his flight. Why do I say this?" the GM said.

"Because there is going to be a lot of checks in the front of the terminal we have been told that some may activities and procedures will take place in front of the terminal. So air travelers are expected to leave home very early so that they can get to the airport on time."

She further explained that airlines would charge an increase in fares as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced a 45 per cent increase in fares, adding that 100 per cent social distancing, wearing of face masks, temperature screening and disinfection of shoes and luggage regardless of personalities.
