American Industrial giant General Electric (GE) is set to launch a gas turbine assembly plant in Nigeria come 2018. This follows an investment of over $100 million into the plant in order to meet growing demands for gas-fired power plants in Nigeria and neighboring countries.

Vigil360 learnt that this was disclosed by the Chief Executive officer of the company Lazarus Angbazo during an interactive session with media men.

 

Angbazo explained that construction work on the plant located in Calabar, Cross River state is expected to be completed in December 2017 while operations will commence before May, 2018., Mr. Lazarus Angbazo, said General Electric wants to support the development of Nigeria’s gas reserve which is largely untapped, adding that the U.S. company has invested in some local power plants.
