President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of Mr. Michael Joe Ohiani as the Director-General (DG)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC). The President’s request was contained in a letter read by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan during Wednesday’s plenary in Abuja.

According to President Buhari’s letter, the request was in accordance with the provisions of Section 22(1)(a) of the ICRC (Establishment) Act, 2005.

Ohiani was named the Acting DG of the Commission after the death of the previous DG, Mr. Chidi Izuwah who passed away on March 16, 2021.

Prior to his appointment as the Acting DG, Ohiani was the Commission’s Director of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Resource Department.

ICRC was established in 2008 by Late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua to superintend and regulate the Federal Government’s PPP efforts aimed at addressing Nigeria’s physical infrastructure deficit which impedes economic development.
