President Muhammad Buhari on Friday 10th of February 2022 presided over the National Council of State meeting to address the naira redesign/currency swap issues causing tension across the country.

In attendance are serving governors, heads of the two chambers of the National Assembly, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan; Yakubu Gowon, Abdulsalami Abubakar, ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo (who attended virtually), as well as Service Chiefs and Heads of security agencies.

It can be recalled that the Supreme Court on Wednesday 8th of February ordered the suspension of the deadline for currency swaps after Governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara State had approached the Apex Court.

The Council of State meeting today at the Aso Rock presidential villa is aimed at seeking advice from critical stakeholders before making a decision.
