The Federal Government (FG) has published the list of about 8,611 Nigerians who are yet to collect their international passports from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). The Service made this known on its official Twitter handle on Thursday, adding that the list can be accessed via immigration.gov.ng/uncollected-passports. According to the NIS, Public Relations Officer, Anthony Akuneme, the Service was unable to reach the owners of the uncollected passports because some provided incorrect contact details at the point of registration.

He further said that if anyone finds their name on the published list, they should proceed to the passport office to pick it up and added that the passports would not be destroyed, if the owners could not be reached because they remained the property of the Federal Government.

In March last year, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola stated that about 250,000 international passports remained uncollected.
