The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have called on Nigerians to remain calm and not exercise unnecessary apprehension over the availability of petroleum products during and after this yuletide season.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the corporation, Mr Makanti Baru made the call in Sagamu, Ogun State on Thursday, promising that the ugly scenes of long queues experienced in past Yuletide seasons will not be seen at petrol stations this year.

The NNPC boss cautioned Nigerians against panic buying and unwholesome storage of petroleum products. Adding that Nigeria consumes about 35 million litres of the product per day and over a billion litres of petroleum is currently available.

”We are prepared and we have sufficient amount of petroleum products that will last us through the end of the year and into next year. Our average consumption is about 35 million litres per day and at the moment we have well over a billion litres of petroleum products in my tanks,” he said.

”We do not have any problem and I will appeal to motorists please not to put fuel in jerry cans and in their cars. That is very dangerous because it can easily result to fire outbreak".

“I am assuring you, there are products available in every filling station as you could see around the nation. We have trucks that are bringing fuel to filling stations across the country,” he said.
