The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has blamed the current scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on activities of cabal in the oil sector contrary to widespread claim that tanker drivers were not strike. NUPENG made this known on Wednesday in a statement released to newsmen.
In the statement signed by the National President, Mr. Igwe Achese, the group said it is not responsible for the fuel situation. It added that the Petroleum Tankers Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG is working to make products available across the country.
“NUPENG is not responsible for the present shortage of petroleum products being experienced nationwide."
“Our members in the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, branch of NUPENG are working and lifting products to the nooks and crannies of the country.”
The group also blamed the cabal in the downstream sector for frustrating the rehabilitation of the nation's refineries stressing that the situation was responsible for the perennial cases of fuel scarcity.
