Following the prolonged fuel scarcity that marred Christmas celebration by Christian faithful in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned key players in the nation's oil sector to the Presidential Villa on Monday. According to Vanguard, those expected to meet with the President include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu; Mr. Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC;

Mr. Mordecai Ladan, Director, Department of Petroleum Resources; Mr. Femi Olawore, Executive Secretary, Major Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN; Mr. Mike Osatuyi, National Operation Controller, Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN; and Mr Olufemi Adewole, Executive Secretary, Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association, DAPPMA.


The report disclosed that the focus of the meeting would be to find lasting solution to the issue of fuel scarcity. It added that the President who doubles as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources will review all issues involved in the scarcity, listen to contributions from investors and marketers and fashion out ways to frustrate possible reoccurrence.


The meeting is coming few days after the Nigerian Senate summoned Kachikwu and Baru to appear before it on January 4, 2018 in respect of the fuel scarcity and the reintroduction of fuel subsidy regim
