The newly elected Chairman, Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), FCT, Chief John Nzekwe, has expressed displeasure that FCT is yet to have an industrial park.

Nzekwe stated this on Wednesday in Abuja, shortly after he was sworn-in as the new FCT chairman of NASSI.

The NASSI Chairman stated that the previous leadership of the association has failed to steer the body to the right path as the engine of economic development and wealth creation.

He said: “Ordinarily, the sitting room of every Nigerian should have been a production centre; all these things we buy here and jubilate are produced in very small rooms in other climes.

“The role of NASSI is to liaise with the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for industrialisation to thrive; the Federal Government should encourage inventors.

“In FCT, it is overdue for us to have an industrial cluster; for instance, if you want to process your cassava, you just go to the industrial cluster and get your starch and garri.

“The enabling environment is not there in terms of funding and facilities; we are going to tackle headlong, ‘’ he said.

Six vice-chairmen were elected one for each area council in FCT.
