Queen Latifah Makes History With National Recording Registry

American rapper, Dana Elaine better known as Queen Latifah has become the first-ever female Hip Hop artist to join the National Recording Registry with the induction of her debut album, All Hail the Queen. On Wednesday, the Library of Congress announced that Queen Latifah had been inducted. Other inductees on this year’s list include Mariah Carey’s holiday standard “All I Want for Christmas is You,” Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” and Daddy Yankee’s 2004 smash “Gasolina.’ The registry was first created in 2000. Most of the inductees have been older jazz and rock songs. However, there have been a few hip-hip entries in the past. Jay-Z’s album The Blueprint and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic are two notable standouts.

Actor Jamie Foxx Hospitalized Following ‘Medical Complication’

American actor, comedian, and singer, Eric Marlon Bishop, known professionally as Jamie Foxx, has been hospitalized in Atlanta following a “medical complication”. The Oscar winner’s family confirmed the development on Wednesday on Instagram. His daughter Corinne Foxx wrote “We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” Fans and colleagues sent their well wishes and prayers on social media once the news broke.

Ogun Police Arrest Singer Portable After 72hour Ultimatum

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has been arrested by the Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police, after exceeding the 72 hours ultimatum issued to the controversial singer to report himself to the nearest police station or face being arrested. Reacting to Portable’s arrest on Friday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that the controversial singer had been arrested and was cooling off his feet at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, where he would remain till Monday and then charged to court.

Oscars 2023: “Everything Everywhere All At Once” Dominates Awards

The 2023 Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, with the Movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once” dominating the wins. “Naatu Naatu” song from RRR, with music by MM Keeravaani and lyrics by Chandrabose charted history by becoming the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. Portable ‘Zazu’ Granted Bail

Popular singer “Zazu Zeh” crooner, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable, has been granted bail by a Magistrate Court, sitting in Ifo, Ifo local government area of Ogun State, on Monday. The Ogun State Police Command arraigned the hip hop singer on a three-count charge bothering on assault and theft of musical equipment. The controversial singer was granted bail by the presiding Magistrate of the court of N300,000, with two sureties with landed properties within the court vicinity.
