Wizkid & Tems Spotlight Nigeria on Billboard's Global 200

Nigerian singer and songwriter Wizkid debuts on the Global 200 at No. 159 with "Essence," featuring Tems, following Burna Boy to become the second and third artists from Nigeria to hit the survey. According to Billboard, "Essence," from Wizkid's 2020 album Made in Lagos, is primarily sung in English but includes lyrics in Yoruba, making it is the first song to feature vocals in Yoruba to grace the Global charts.

Nigerians Pay Tribute As Tiwa Loses Dad

Fans and well-wishers have continued to pour in their condolences after Iconic Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, announced the sudden death of her beloved father who she said passed on in the early hours of Monday, July 19. She wrote, “Early hours of this morning, you made a peaceful transition. You fought till the very end, you really fought daddy. It’s been rough for you these past couple of years but you are resting now. “This is tough on me, I’m so numb, so weak. Rest In Perfect Peace my King. I love you daddy. Savy t’eko, pappin K.” (sic). Among a few of her fans and well-wishers who flooded her page to commiserate with her is Adesua Etomi, she wrote “Sending you tons of Love.”

Kingdom Kroseide has on Sunday emerged as the winner of the 6th edition of the Nigerian Idol, defeating the runner-up, Francis Atela in the Finale of the competition. Kroseide was announced during the Grand Finale of the show at the Africa Magic studios.

TAMPAN Suspends Yomi Fabiyi Indefinately

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has indefinitely suspended and denounced the membership of popular Yoruba actor, Yomi Fabiyi, over the release of his controversial movie, ‘Oko Iyabo’. TAMPAN who had earlier summoned Fabiyi on Thursday, July 8 announced his suspension on Friday, saying its Ethics, Conflict and Resolution Committee found him guilty of professional misconduct and unethical practices.

Multichoice, Organizers of the popular reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) have announced that the sixth edition of the show is set to commence with two opening ceremonies on July 24th and 25th, 2021. 2021 BET Awards: Burna Boy, Cardi B, Others Win Awards

Grammy Award-winning superstar, Burna Boy has won the Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, making it his third consecutive win in the same category. The “Bank On It” singer beat fellow Nigerian singer, Wizkid and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.
