The esteemed Soundcity MVP Awards Festival has released its official list of nominees for the 2017 edition scheduled to take place on January 12, 2018, at the Eko Hotels Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The nomination witness the OBO boss Davido, as lead with 7 nominations and Eric Many front line act, while Runtown, follow with 4 nominations including Best Male MVP, Best Collaboration, Song of the year and Viewers choice award.

Miss Adamawa state, Mildred Ehiguese, has emerged winner of the 2017 edition of Miss Nigeria beauty contest. Ehiguese emerged as the new queen at the beauty pageant held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday. She defeated other 35 contestants from other states, emerging the 41st Miss Nigeria. Apart from Ehiguese, her Delta State counterpart, Rita Chinedu, emerged the first runner-up, while Miss Ogun, Tolulope Ayanfalu Mary, was the second runner-up.

Nigeria’s blockbuster movie “The Wedding Party 2-Destination Dubai,” has made over 73 million Naira on its opening weekend, its producers said. The movie was released in cinemas across the country on Friday, December 15. This feat is now the highest ever in the Nigerian Box Office, breaking the N36 million record set by the first part of the movie, ‘The Wedding Party 1,’ on its opening weekend last year. Mo Abudu, Chief Executive of Ebony Studios, one of the producers of movie, made the success of the sequel known on her Instagram page.

Controversial Nigerian radio host and presenter Ifedayo Olarinde popularly called Daddy Freeze has lampooned Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) Pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo for allowing Majek Fashek to perform reggae music in the church. He claimed that it was senseless for the man of God to allow secular music to be performed on the altar of God which is supposed to be pure. The controversial Nigerian senator, Dino Melaye, has ventured into the entertainment industry following his appearance in a new music video by Afro trap star, Kach, titled Dino. The senator representing Kogi West has also made history as he becomes the first Nigerian serving lawmaker to be featured in a music video. As evident in the lyrics, the song was aptly named after the serving senator. Kach, who released the first single of his Afro Trap Mixtape titled DINO, recently told PREMIUM TIMES that the lawmaker inspired the song.

Nigerian urban highlife singer, songwriter and graphic designer, Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known by his stage name Adekunle Gold has reacted to emerging reports that about twenty girls were raped last month at the 2017 Phynofest held in Enugu. A few days ago, unconfirmed reports emerged that despite huge security presence at the event held at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, 20 girls were raped by hoodlums.
