Hungarian film producer, Andrew G. Vajna who was behind hit films like Rambo died at 74 in his Budapest residence, after a protracted illness, the Hungarian National Film Fund said on Sunday. According to Reuters, Andrew was born on August 1st,1944 in Budapest and 12 years, he fled Hungary to Canada with the help of Red Cross, after the national insurrection was crushed by soviet troops.

He was later reunited with his family in Los Angeles.


Vajna produced over forty films including 'Evita' which starred the Legendary Madonna and Sylvester Stallone. He also served as a government commissioner, under Prime Minister Viktor Orban in 2011, where he presided over a revival of Hungarian cinema.


During his term as commissioner, his movies won International awards including 'Son of Saul' which won an oscar and a grand prize at the 2015 Cannes film festival.


Vajna owned a national commercial television 'TV2', acquired stakes in the commercial radio market and Casinos.
