Black Panther actress, Lupita Nyong'o has announced that plans are set for the screen adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's 2013 novel 'Americanah'. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nyong'o made the disclosure in an interview with Vogue Magazine.

Nyong'o said her dream project of making the film is finally likely to happen, adding that she is ready to dive into the project.


'Americanah' is a story about two young Nigerians, Ifemelu who departed for America and Obinze who struggles to make it to her but the post 9/11 and poses hinderance and he instead lands into a dangerous life in London.


Nyong'o bought the film right of 'Americanah' in 2014 and collaborated with actress Dania Gurira to write the screenplay.


However, in 2018 both Nyong'o and Gurira announced that the novel was being turned into a mini-series and not a film.


In a bid to produce a quality project, the duo has visited Nigeria for research for the film.
