Nigerian Afro-pop sensation, Burna Boy on Sunday bagged the Young Person of the Year Award, at the 2019 Future Awards in The Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) since its first edition in 2006 celebrates young Africans between the age of 18 and 31, who have made positive impacts and outstanding achievements.
The Grammy Award nominee also won the Future Award Prize for Music. Other winners at the event include UFC Champion, Israel Adesanya for Sports, Founder of Thrive Agric, Uka Eje won The Future Prize for Agriculture, Olaseni Cole for Education, and Zang Luka Bot for Technology.
Also, Sandra Tuboboreni, CEO, TUBO won the Prize for Fashion, multidisciplinary artist and contemporealist, Ken Nwadiogu won the prize for Art.
International lawyer and head, Trade Remedies/Assistant Trade and investment in the Office of the Vice President, Adetola Onayemi bagged The Future Awards for Africa for Public Service.
Actor, Timini Egbuson won The Future Award for Acting for his role in MTV's series Shuga, while, Dare Olaitan won the Future Prize for Film Making for Ojukokoro (Greed) and Knockout Blessing.
The Future Prize for Advocacy went to Hamsat Lawal, who led a successful campaign in over 40 countries and specialises in practical issues related to climate change and others.
Isaac Success, Founder of Dreams from the Slum, an empowerment initiative to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria won The Prize for Community Action.
On-Air Personality Award went to Beat FM's Simi Drey Adejumo, while, The Future Award for Photography was won by Tolani Alli, the personal photographer to the Vice President.
The Journalism Award was won by Shola Lawal, a freelance journalist covering social justice, development, and creativity.
Bukky Akomolafe, the Commercial Manager at Travelsstart, Africa’s largest online travel agency bagged The Future Awards for Professional Service, amongst others.
