Damini Ogulu, publicly known by his stage name Burna Boy won the Grammys award for the Best Global Music Album category in his second attempt at the 63rd Grammys, while Wizkid got one for himself for his feature on Brown skin girl music Video which was awarded Best Music Video.

After losing to Angelique Kidjo at the 62nd Grammys in 2020, Burna Boy has become the first Nigerian to win a grammy "for their original work" when his album "Twice as Tall" won Best World Music Album. Wizkid and Sikiru Adepoju are the only two Nigerian to have won the Grammys aside from Burna Boy. Adepoju was the first Nigerian to win a Grammy for the Best Contemporary World Music Album for his work on "Global Drum Project" in 2009.

Wizkid bagged the award for the Best Music Video that featured Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter and Saint JHN in Brown Skin Girl. Other notable Nigerians who were muted to bag the Grammys this year are Tiwa Savage, Made Kuti and Femi Kuti.
