Nigerian music Legend and reggae king Majekodunmi Fasheke popularly known as Majek Fashek, who worked with International stars like Jimmy Cliff, Tracy Chapman, and Snoop Dogg is dead. His death was confirmed by his manager Omenka Uzoma, on the late reggae crooner's Instagram handle.

Writing on Instagram, Omenka said, "Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker. Let celebrate him, his achievements, and not mourn, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified."


Majek was born in Benin, Edo State. According to his manager, the performer, who was popular with hits such as Send Down The Rain and So Long For Too Long, died in his sleep in New York.


Majek Fashek has been ill for some time but the cause of his death is not clear.
