‘Squid Game’ Creator Confirms Season 2, Viewers To Expect A Plot Twist

The creator and director of the hit Netflix TV series “Squid Game”, Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that the series would return for a second season. This was revealed in an interview by Dong-hyuk, who also revealed that viewers’ should expect a plot twist involving one of the show’s main character, Gi hun. According to Dong-hyuk, most South Korean series usually end after a season but due to the popularity and success of the Squid Games series, they are left with no option than to create a second season.


Dong-hyuk said, “I almost feel like you leave us no choice. There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season.”

Regarding what to expect during the second season, he said, “It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will be back and he’ll do something for the world.”

The series “Squid Games” involves contestants who are in dire need of money play dangerous children’s games in order to win cash prizes.

The series recorded over 111 million views on Netflix less than a month after its debut in September 2021.

It held the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 lists in 94 countries worldwide. It is also the first-ever Korean series on Netflix to reach No. 1 in the United States of America.
