Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton has been known to go for the chop previously, but we never knew until now what she did with the excess. According to a royal source who spoke to The Daily Express, the Duchess of Cambridge recently donated some of her hair to a cancer charity that provides real hair wigs for children and young adults who have lost their hair as a result of treatment.
Seven inches of royal hair was anonymously sent to a charity called the Little Princess Trust. The Herefordshire-based organization makes wigs from real hair and donates them to children who have lost their own hair through chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
In a gesture of kindness, the source explained how the Duchess came up with the idea herself while her hairdresser Joey, who works for Richard Ward Hair in Chelsea, was cutting her hair about four months ago.
"While Joey was snipping away the idea came to her of doing some good with it rather than throwing it away," the unnamed source said. "She mentioned it to Joey, who thought it was a brilliant idea."
As a result, it's thought that Kate donated seven inches of her brunette hair to the Little Princess Trust.
"The trust didn't know it was from a royal source – they just thought it was from a female donor in the Kensington area," the Daily Express was told.
