Nigerian singer, human right activist and good governance crusader, Charles Oputa popularly called Charly Boy has apologized to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki after posting a damaging misleading picture and message on his social media pages suggesting that Saraki was attacked by youths in Kwara.
Charly Boy had posted a picture of the Senate President where he was seen cleaning mud and other dirt from his shoes and jean trouser after visiting a riverine area in Rivers State. He had claimed that the Senate President was chased and attacked by irate youths, insinuating that youths were gradually taking on leaders because of their failed promises.
After his attention was drawn to the error, Area Fada admitted that he failed to verify the authenticity of the information and apologized for his mistake. His post read;
“Apology to Senate President Saraki. My earlier post on Senate president Bukola Saraki was incorrect. I admit I was in a hurry to post before verifying the veracity of the story. I apologize for this avoidable error.”
Responding, the Senate President tweeted;
“Dear Charlyboy (@Areafada1), I appreciate your coming forward to admit that your post against me was ill-conceived. It takes a lot to do that. I agree that we all see things from our respective lenses, but without disregard to what is permissible by an average mind. It is therefore imperative that we observe circumspection at all times so we don’t have to say the avoidable ‘sorry.”
