315 Nigerians stranded in the United Kingdom are expected back home today. According to the Diaspora commission, the evacuees are due for arrival at about 5 pm on Sunday. They are billed to depart Heathrow Airport at about1030am via an Air Peace flight and they will be expected to proceed on 14-day isolation as mandated by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.


The latest arrival brings the number of Nigerians who have been evacuated since the COVID-19 global lockdown to 2,429. Over 4,000 Nigerians are estimated to be stranded in various countries overseas. The PTF has outlined a weekly evacuation of 1,000 stranded Nigerians in the next four weeks to complete the evacuation exercise.
