The World Bank has revealed that is pausing approval for new public finance projects in Uganda over the country's adoption earlier this year of a widely criticized bill criminalizing same-sex conduct. The World Bank statement; "Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Act fundamentally contradicts the World Bank Group’s values," the development lender said in a statement Tuesday, adding that "no new public financing," would be presented to the bank's board of directors for approval for the time being.

Niger Coup: ECOWAS Orders Activation Of Military Force

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has ordered the Chief of Defense Staff Committee to immediately activate its standby force against the junta in Niger Republic. President of ECOWAS, Omar Alieu Touray, revealed this while reading the resolution taken at the Extraordinary meeting on the Niger coup in Abuja on Thursday, after several efforts to discourse with Niger junta have been rejected by the coup leaders. At its meeting, the regional bloc said that all ECOWAS leaders also condemned the continuous detention of President Mohamed Bazoum.

Former Emir Of Kano State, Sanusi Meets Niger Coup Leaders

The 14th Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, has met with the Niger coup leaders in Niger Republic. Sanusi met the military leadership shortly after the ruler declined a meeting with representatives of African Union (AU), Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) and a top US diplomat.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday met with the governors of states sharing border with Niger Republic, as part of consultations by President Tinubu regarding the coup situation in the West African nation, which resulted in the removal of the Nigerien President, Mohamed Bazoum by the military junta. In attendance for the meeting held at the State House, Abuja were Governors Umar Namadi (Jigawa State), Dikko Radda (Katsina State), Idris Nasir (Kebbi State), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto State) and Mai Malam Buni (Yobe State).
