Another Nigerian Killed In South Africa

A 27- year –old Nigerian, Ebuka Okori, was killed by the police in Durban in the early hours of Friday, the Nigerian community in South Africa said.

Ghana's Aviation Minister Cecelia Dapaah has warned British Airways (BA) it could face sanctions, after reports of bed bugs on some of the airline's flights into the country.

A British newspaper reported this week that a BA flight to Accra was grounded at London's Heathrow Airport for four hours, after the insects were found crawling on the seats.

National Bank of Kenya has admitted losing Sh29 million in a fraud attack at the institution on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

The bank would however, wait for 48 hours after the attack to issue a statement on the loss, maintaining that customers’ accounts had not been affected.

“We confirm that there was an attempted fraud in normal course of business on January 17, but the Bank’s monitoring and security resources frustrated the attempt,” the statement read.

South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) declined on Saturday to comment on a report its executive planned to force Jacob Zuma to quit as president, as its leaders gather to outline the party’s program for the coming year.

Broadcaster eNCA said the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had resolved the previous day to ask Zuma - whose presidency has been tainted by a series of corruption allegations - to resign.

If he refused, he would be forced to step down by the party’s six-strong leadership group, the channel said, without naming its sources.

Authorities in Somalia say they have freed 32 children from a school run by Islamist militant group al-Shabab, news agency Reuters reports.

Information Minister Abdirahman Omar Osman said that the children are safe and are being looked after by the government.

Many African leaders have indicated interest to attend the inauguration of Liberia’s President-elect, George Weah, on Monday. The Chief Protocol of Liberia, Mr Jarvis Witherspoon, stated this at a media briefing in Monrovia on Thursday. Witherspoon said other current and past leaders from around the world were expected to grace the occasion scheduled to hold at the 35,000-capacity Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.
