Sudan's new Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok has vowed to solve the economic crisis, restore peace and tackle conflicts. He made the pledge on Wednesday after he was sworn in as the leader of the transitional government.

Hamdok, a renowned economist will lead the country alongside the Sovereign Council headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan for three years until an election is conducted.

The sudan crisis came after a revolution protest against decades of autocratic rule and the overthrow of Omar Hassan Al-Bashir by the Military, following months of protests.

Though People of sudan lauded the ousting of Al-Bashir, they also fought for the government to be handed over to civilians for a transition into democracy.

Speaking at a news conference in Khartoum, Hamdok said: “The revolution’s deep-rooted slogan, ‘freedom, peace, and justice,’ will form the program of the transitional period.”

Gen Burhan's Sovereign Council is responsible for the smooth planned 39-month long transition to democracy.
