Xenophobia: Another Nigerian Lynched In South Africa

Despite sending an envoy and a follow-up trip to South Africa by President Muhammadu Buhari in a wake of Xenophobia that has made Nigerians more of an endangered species in the hand of their host country, the Nigerian community in South Africa has confirmed the killing of one of its members, Ikenna Otugo.

The Acting Chairman of Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA), Sylvester Okonkwo speaking from the Kwazulu Natal Province informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that on Wednesday, Otugo was killed at the said province in Empangeni on Tuesday.

 

Okonkwo said that Mr Otugo, 41, is a native of Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state was stabbed to death by yet to be identified assailant over a business disagreement.

 

Okonkwo informed NAN through a telephone conversation from Empangeni that the diseased had repaired a cell phone to a customer in the area.

 

However, not satisfied by the work done to her phone, the customer went to the extent of hiring some thugs that came around and stab Otugo in the fisticuff.

 

The victim died on their way to the hospital of bleeding, the matter has been reported to the police and the NUSA union the chairman added.

 

The diseased body has been deposited in a morgue for further autopsy Okonkwo added.

 

Adetola Olubajo, the President of NUSA, confirmed that the national secretariat had been informed about the incident.
