Plane crashes in Sudan’s Darfur region.
A Sudanese military plane carrying judges and injured people, following an ethnic conflict crashed on Thursday in the western Darfur region, killing all 16 people on board.
Among the casualties were three judges, seven troops and six civilians including women and children.
According to the Sudan army spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Amer Mohammed Al-Hassan, the Russian Antonov An-12 plane crashed 5 minutes after taking off from the airport in El Geneina.
El-Geneina, located in the west of Sudan, near the border with Chad and Khartoum, recently witnessed a tribal conflict between Arabs and non-Arabs killing three dozen people, including women and children.
The aircraft was transporting people injured in a tribal conflict in Darfur to Khartoum for treatment.
However, the cause of the plane crash is yet to be determined.
