Following Russia's completion on the human trial of the world's first Coronavirus vaccine, the country has set plans to register the vaccine by August 12, making it the first official approved cure against the virus. The Gamaleya vaccine, produced by the Gamaleya Institute and the Russian Direct Investment Fund in Moscow is expected to get a conditional registration as well as to be approved for use by civilians between three to seven days after registration.
In a meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister, Tatyana Golikova said the conditional registration would require the vaccine trial to be conducted on 1,600 people before production commences in September.
"The key requirements for a vaccine are its proven effectiveness and safety, so everything needs to be done very carefully and accurately," President Vladimir Putin, who was also in the meeting said.
Putin also said the rise in cases recorded in some areas was because some regions were eager and reopened too quickly after the lockdown was lifted.
