President Buhari Arrives France For Paris Peace Forum

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived the French capital, Paris Tuesday afternoon for a one-day official visit as a guest of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. President Buhari would then attend a 3 days’ Paris Peace Forum, (PPF), scheduled to hold from November 11-13, 2021. This was made known in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.


The statement read in part, “During the official visit on Wednesday, President Buhari will meet with his French counterpart to discuss issues of mutual interest for both countries, particularly on strengthening economic ties, improving partnership on security, and working jointly on education, health and halting the threats of COVID-19 to the global economy.

“From Thursday, President Buhari will join world leaders, heads of international organizations, leaders of civil society, and the private sector at Grande Halle de La Villette to strategize on better governance for a world of peace, with plenaries, masterclasses, and workshops.”

President Buhari is expected to make a remark at the event.

Other world leaders expected to speak at the event include President Macron of France, the United States of America’s Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.

The first edition of the Paris Peace Forum was held from November 11-13, 2018, and was attended by over 110 foreign delegates and 54 heads of state and government including German Chancellor, Angela Merkel; Russian President Vladimir Putin, amongst others.
