G20 leaders have held an emergency meeting following an explosion in Poland which Ukraine is blaming on Russian missiles. US President Joe Biden says it’s unlikely that Moscow is responsible for the blast but he has promised to support an investigation. Two farmers were killed in the explosion in a village near the Ukrainian border. Two missiles are believed to have hit farmland around ten kilometres from the Ukrainian border. Polish President Andrzej Duda said “All day today Russia was attacking Ukraine with rockets but we do not have any conclusive evidence at the moment as to who launched this missiles.

“The investigation is underway. I deeply believe the investigators will clarify that. It was most likely a Russian made missile but it is all still under investigation.”

Russia has denied the news of the attack describing it as a deliberate provocation by Polish media who broke the news.

“Polish mass media and officials commit deliberate provocation to escalate situation with their statement on alleged impact of “Russian” rockets at Przewodów. Russian hardware has launched NO strikes at the area,” Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted.

This is the first time in the Ukrainian conflict that a missile is hitting territory under NATO protection.

During the day Russian forces launched waves of missile strikes across a wide area of Ukraine with many targeting energy facilities leaving millions of homes without power. Ukrainian authorities said that more than 90 missiles have been fired but more than 70 have been shot down by air defense systems.

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has convened a urgent meeting of the national security committee. They are coordinating with NATO, working out what exactly happened is vital. The NATO said an attack on one member is an attack on the whole alliance.
