Indonesian President Joko Widodo commiserates with Indonesians over the death of the country’s former president Professor BJ Habibie.
Habibie who was 83, died at Jakarta army hospital following a heart ailment.
“I on behalf of the people of Indonesia and the government would like to express my deep sorrow for the passing of Professor BJ Habibie.
“Mr. Habibie was a world-class scientist, the father of Indonesian technological advancement and the third president of Indonesia,” Widodo said.
The former president served from May 1998 to October 1999 after replacing President Suharto who resigned under pressure in 1998 following a widespread unrest.
