Following the renewal of military action at North Korea's border town of Kaesong, the North has on Tuesday blown up a joint liaison office with South Korea near Kaesong. The office was set up in 2018 to enable communication when the two countries were in a state of war. However, the office was evacuated and has remained empty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
North and South have been on tension for weeks following some propaganda spread by defector groups in the South.
The South in a response statement said it would be dealt with in a strong response if it doesn't halt its hostile activities.
The south stated that the destruction of the liaison office " abandons the hopes of everyone who wanted the development of inter-Korean relations and peace settlement in the Korean Peninsula".
"The government makes it clear that all responsibility of this situation lies in the North."
There are speculations that the blow-up was after North Korean leader's sister, Kim Yo-jong threatened to demolish the office over the weekend.
