US President And Wife Test Positive For COVID-19

United States President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania have tested positive to COVID-19. They will begin quarantining immediately, he said. Trump, who announced this in a tweet on his Twitter page on Friday, said they will be quarantined and recovery process will begin immediately. "we will get through this together," he wrote. The President and first lady are "both well," and Trump is expected to continue his duties while recovering, a statement from the White House doctor said. Trump's diagnosis came just hours after his top aide Hope Hicks tested positive for the virus.

Hicks, 31 she travelled with him on Air Force One to the first presidential TV debate with Democratic rival Joe Biden in Ohio on Tuesday. Some of Mr Trump's family members who attended the debate were seen not wearing masks.

Mr Trump's physician, Dr Sean Conley, released a statement, saying the president and the first lady were "both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence".

"Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments," the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night, announced 153 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total case diagnosed in the country to 59,001.

The new cases were reported from 14 states – Lagos (81), Rivers (21), FCT (11), Ogun (8), Kaduna (7), Oyo (6), Akwa Ibom (5), Osun (3), Katsina (3), Edo (2), Ebonyi (2), Nasarawa (2), Plateau (1) and Kano (1).
