Joseph R. Biden has on Wednesday been sworn-in as the 46th President of the United States of America alongside his running mate during the 2020 presidential election, Kamala Harris as Vice President. Biden, 78, was sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts with a 128-year-old 5-inch thick bible that has been in the new president’s family.

Harris, 56, was sworn-in by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, making her the first female Vice President of the US.

The inauguration was different from the traditional Presidential inauguration as the former president, Donald Trump was absent, leaving Washington 3 hours before the swearing-in and making him the first American president to skip the inauguration.
