Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter has restored the Twitter account of a former president of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump, following a poll conducted by Musk on Twitter asking the users of the platform, if Trump’s account should be restored. The poll had over 15 million votes with 51.8 percent in favor while 48.2 percent were against the restoration of Trump’s Twitter account.

Musk tweeted, “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated”.

According to reports, Trump said he would not return to Twitter and would remain with his new platform, Truth Social which was developed by Trump Media & Technology Group.

Trump claimed that Truth Social had better user engagement than Twitter and was doing exceptionally well.

In January 2021, Trump’s Twitter account was banned for inciting violence on the platform during the post-2020 presidential election crisis where his supporters raided the U.S Capitol, Washington D.C. in a bid to disrupt the election certification of President Joe Biden.
