COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Record Lowest Record In 7 Months

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has yesterday reported the lowest tally of the coronavirus infection in the last seven months with 58 new cases in nine states across the federation. With the new record, the total infected persons in Nigeria now stand at 59,394.

In the last seven months, the NCDC daily report for new cases was above 300, but more than 50,000 persons have been recovered and discharged from the deadly virus.

According to the health agency, the country still has up to 7,000 persons who are still active on the disease as on Sunday night.

Fortunately, in recent days, the record of the infected persons has been on the decline especially in the mortality rate across the federation as the total death still remains at 1,113 with zero death reported last night.

Accordingly, the cases were reported in nine states across the country as follows; Plateau state has 18 cases followed by, Lagos with 15 infections, Katsina state has 10 and Ogun recorded 5 persons, Kaduna state had 4, Edo 3, Ekiti, FCT and Ondo had 1 each.

Plateau state recorded 18 cases, making it the highest number of infected persons exceeding Lagos state with 15 cases which is the epicentre of the virus.

Lagos state is the epicentre of the COVID-19 has so far recorded over 20,000 cases with more than 200 deaths.

FCT, the nation’s capital followed with a record of about 5,000 infected persons.

Although the country’s testing capacity has witnessed unprecedented improvement with improved testing capacity, Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, about 540,000 out of the 200 million Nigerians has been tested.
