COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Record Fresh 179 New Cases

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed that the total cases of the coronavirus infection in the country have just jumped to 60,834 after 179 new cases were recorded yesterday.

According to the Health Agency, the new cases were recorded in 13 states across the federation which are; Lagos state -116, Anambra state had 20 case, Rivers, FCT and Oyo states have 9 cases each, while Delta and Nassarawa states recorded 3 cases each, meanwhile, Kaduna, Ogun and Plateau states had 2 cases each, Ekiti and Osun recorded 1 case each.

Although, no casualty was recorded yesterday one person lost his life on Monday bringing the total cases of fatality to 1,116 in the country.

As at yesterday, the country has an active total infection of up to 7,500 persons and 52,143 persons have been recovered and discharged from various isolation centres across the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

According to the Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire, 10% of the total infected persons were people below the age of 19, noting that the vulnerable ones were octogenarians who in most cases come down with complications.

Nigeria is yet to record a daily case of above 300 or more in the last two month which is an indication the curve is flattening.

Lagos being the epicentre of the disease recorded the highest number in the latest report with over 200,000 infection record.
