Following a routine test by scientists of the Health Ministry in Liberia, the Country's health ministry on Thursday announced that the deadly Ebola virus has been found in a bat. Making the disclosure in Monrovia, the Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Tolbert Nyenswah asserted that Zaire Ebola virus was detected in one bat.
Nyenswah, revealed that other bats all tested negative when tested for the virus. The development is believed by researchers and scientists to signify that bats in other parts of Africa may carry the virus and may be natural hosts for the virus.
He further stated that there are ongoing researches on how the rate of infected bats and the transmission process occur. This he averred was in a bit to reduce the spread of the virus.
