MTN Nigeria Flags Of Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign

MTN Nigeria has embarked on a campaign to fight against the high rate of substance abuse in the country.

 

The Chairman, MTN Foundation, Mr Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, made this known during the flag off campaign on Friday in Lagos. He said MTN Nigeria deemed it necessary to commence the Anti-Substance Abuse Programme (ASAP) campaign in a bid to eradicate the scourge.

Adelusi-Adeluyi, said the campaign is aimed at engaging leaders and policymakers from different spheres of the society to curb the social vice from the future leaders of the country.

He also urged people to educate themselves on the dangers of substance abuse to the development of the country.

The Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Dr Jide Idris said that education on substance abuse was very essential, as most youths are addicted to opioids

Mr Agboola Dabiri, Commissioner for Youth & Social Development, Lagos State, thanked the MTN Foundation for the initiative and said it is important to continuously remind youths of their roles in the nation's development .

According to NAN, the ASAP campaign commenced with various activities in primary and secondary schools, motor parks, and markets, and also advocacy walks that ended with counselling sessions for interested persons.

Meanwhile, the same campaign will be held in Imo, Rivers, Kano, Bauchi States and the FCT, Abuja in the coming months.
