The International Centre for Investigative Reporting, ICIR, carried out an investigation following the announcement of the nation's Health Minister Dr Osagie Emmanuel Ehanire, a few weeks ago that Nigeria is prepared to handle Coronavirus (Covid19). ICIR, however, claimed that after paying a visit to a few major hospitals in the nation's capital city of Abuja, it was not so sure the declaration by Ehanire was accurate.

According to ICIR, findings from the country's national hospital located at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as far as they know only has a makeshift two-bed isolation area sighted at the female Ward Centre of the Hospital, at the end of a corridor secluded by movable hospital curtain with easy access to visitors in the hospital for likely victims of the deadly Coronavirus. The same ward which is dedicated to patients of other serious ailments such as Lassa Fever and Ebola virus.

As for the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), it was observed that there was no visible facility or equipment provided for the handling of Covid19. The virus currently has infected 46,524 people across the globe. So far cases recorded is 82,585. In the last 48 hours, Coronavirus has hit 11 new countries, including Italy, Iran, South Korea, the Middle East. Meanwhile, a suspected Covid19 case in Lagos state has tested negative even the country's vigilant level remains high.
