The Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 has announced an updated international travel protocol for passengers travelling to Nigeria. The revised travel advisory states that all travellers to Nigeria must present a negative COVID-19 test done not more than 72 hours prior to boarding, whether the traveller has taken COVID-19 vaccination or not. This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Chairman, PSC on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha.

According to the statement, the revised travel protocol would take effect from Monday, October 25, 2021.

The statement reads in part, “Travellers arriving in Nigeria must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted not more than 72 hours before boarding. Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated in-bound passengers will be required to observe a mandatory seven-day self-isolation in addition to a COVID-19 PCR test on days two and seven after arrival.

“Fully vaccinated in-bound passengers will not be required to observe the mandatory seven-day isolation but will be required to do a COVID-19 PCR test on day two of arrival.

“Persons arriving on business trips or on official duties staying less than seven days in Nigeria must be fully vaccinated and produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test result 72 hours before boarding, and conduct a PCR test on day two of their arrival.”
